Nick is a landscape painter working mainly in oils who has become fascinated with the interaction of light, land, water and sky. His paintings are not only a response to varied locations, but of different seasons, weather and times of the day. This has led him to explore marine scapes, rivers and city skylines as well as a wealth of scenery closer to his home in Tonbridge, Kent or on travels throughout the UK and abroad. He loves the possibilities of mark making that come through manipulating paint, often using palette knives, pushing the abstract qualities that are inherent in the image. Nick regularly exhibits his work at a number of leading galleries, societies and Art Fairs around UK, including The Fry Art Gallery, West End House Gallery and for a season at Glyndebourne Opera Gallery.
He shows regularly with the Royal Society Marine Artists, and has shown in RBA, ROI, RWS shows at the Mall Galleries, and had a sell out with Flying Colours Gallery at The British Art Fair in 2023.
Nick was awarded The Jullian Barrow Memorial Prize at Chelsea Art Society in 2018, and The Painting Prizes at the Pure Art Fair, Sussex, two years running. He has been commissioned for many private and corporate projects including for a number of Royal Caribbean Liners and a London Underground Poster. He has written articles for “The Artist”, and “Artists and Illustrators” magazines and his work appears in a number of practical art books.
