Rod Major

Born in Cheshire in 1948. Rod started painting in oils at the age of thirteen and notwithstanding a career in banking, he has never stopped. Oil painting has therefore been an enthusiastic hobby over the years. Since retiring in 2012 however, he has devoted himself full time to pursuing his passion.

Rod is a self taught landscape painter living in Hythe, Kent. He paints nearly always outdoors on the spot and finishes his paintings in one session. His work is impressionistic and he aims to capture atmosphere and light in a spontaneous way.

The subjects from which he takes inspiration are mostly landscapes, boats and harbours. He also loves painting the Thames in London and travelling overseas.
