Biography
Julia Hawkins is a contemporary figurative artist based in Surrey, where she runs a successful private studio. She completed an MA in Graphics and Illustration at the Latvian Academy of Arts and studied drawing at the Riga studios of Professor Vitaly Karkunov. She moved to the UK in 1990 after working for various publishing companies in commercial and editorial illustration.
Her works, highly regarded by colleagues and collectors alike, are regularly exhibited with The Federation of British Artists. Her expressive landscapes and portraits reveal an experienced painter and colourist, who truly captures the essence of her subject. A number of her works are owned by private collectors both in the UK and internationally.
Julia Hawkins is a frequent exhibitor at the Mall Galleries in London with groups such as the Royal Portrait Society, New English Art Club, Royal Institute of Oil Painters and the Society of Women Artists. This year her work was selected for the prestigious Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize exhibition. Julia also exhibits with the Jonathan Cooper Park Walk Gallery in Chelsea.
Julia is a member of Guildford Arts and the Dorking Group of Artists.
