Andrew Horrod

Andrew Horrod is a figurative painter, currently living in London. Direct observation is an essential starting point for Andrew’s work so he draws and paints in front of the subject as much as possible. For painting he uses acrylic, oil, watercolour or chalk pastel. Occasionally the choice of medium is based on the subject matter and/or time of day. Whatever the medium, Andrew has a fairly loose figurative style and he likes you, the viewer, to ‘fill in the gaps’. Familiar sights and classic themes are sometimes given a contemporary twist.

Andrew regularly takes part in outdoor painting events. He has won several prizes and has had work featured in a variety of shows, e.g. the Sunday Times Watercolour Competition and Royal Institute of Oil Painters Annual Exhibition. He became a member of Chelsea Art Society in 2019. Further information can be found on his website and recent work – sometimes in progress – is posted to his social media accounts.
